    Baby Toads

The kids, my assistant, and I caught over 50 baby toads today. They are EVERYWHERE in our yard.

I would LOVE to bring a couple inside as pets, but I don't have a clue how to care for them...Any ideas?

I have wanted a red eyed tree frog for like...all my life. Baby toads are about the closest I will ever come to one of those, I'm sure.

Anyway, if you have any ideas, let me know!! We have let all 50+ go today so they don't die of heat stroke, but there will be more tomorrow..

    awww...love the baby toads!

get a decent size aquarium or clear container with a vented lid. Put a shallow layer of water in the bottom. Add some rocks and pieces of wood (bark, etc) You can catch small insects for it, or buy small crickets or mealworms and feed them daily.

Is it true that frog’s skin is poisonous? I attended a reptile show and a guy teaching it said that he suffered temp. Blindness after forgetting to wash his hands and then rubbing his eyes. Is this true

              I want some toads.

Not that I can be trusted with them. They will either fight all the time or cry all day long.

Not generally. There are some that are poisonous, but you'd find those in places like the rainforest.

They do have bacteria on their skin, which can cause salmonella, so it is necessary to wash after handling them. But otherwise they are safe, and salmonella poisoning is RARE.

Well..we kept three. Little 3 yr old dcg named them Froggie (how original...), Rolly, and Rudy. Idk where she got the last two names, but whatever.

The kids LOVE them. Had two have a hard time coming in this morning, and as soon as I said "Let's go look at our new pets!" they were DONE. They caught worms for them, and ants too..I don't know if frogs/toads eat ants, but there are two in their aquarium just in case...

Yesterday I used a baby food lid to give them a little pool of water, and they are loving it. Soaking all the time. I am going to go get some tiny crickets this weekend I think..They started croaking at us when we walked by them, which the kids LOVE. ::
