    Possible blessing with a question

So as u may know I finally decided to term a family after more than a year service. It was a hard decision but it kept coming to mind too much recently so sadly I decided to let a child go. I was starting to worry about the pinch in income because once I hand the term letter she could decide not to come back. I think she will stay but who knows.

While sitting outside enjoying my week off a car pulls up and a lady I recognise from my sons school (shes a parent of a classmate) jumps out in a hurry and says "sorry to just drop by but I wanted to see if u have any openings for kids" I was sitting there a mess from yard work and in short shorts from being in the pool cleaning it too! I didn't want to get up, she was at the porch edge just 4 feet from me anyway so I just stayed seated. I tell her it depends on what her needs are. She said 3 kids 8am-4pm. That would fit perfect and 3 kids!! Ages 4, 8, and 9. I told her I didn't have enough spots right now but I would for July. She said "ok so can i call back in 30 days then?" I said sure and then my son notices he knows her son. They were in class together. They say hi and she says she has to go but will call.

I'm bumming it was so sudden I didnt get a number and I didnt get to tell her I don't work weekends. She did say she has them in care but it's a center and farther away so she would like them close. So I sat there excited at the thought of new clients. Then I thought this terming must be the right thing! I prayed for an answer that I was doing the right or wrong thing and this lady comes from nowhere tody with 3 kids!!! Sure 2 are school age and will only be here 1 hr a day after school starts but the little 4 yr old would fill my 3 yr olds spot I am about to term. So in a way it's the same income with a little bonus.

Now I come to the question part. It's been so long since I mixed ages. I do have my son who is 9 with the toddlers in care but he does his own thing and joins us when he wants. What do I do to pull the ages together? I have never had such a wide gap! 2ys - 9yrs. What kind of activities should I do? Do any of u have these ages? Any help would be appreciated!! Thank u!

I have 8mnths to 8 years. If the 8 year old is here with kids under 3, he sits on the couch and does nothing because there is no one to play with. Since you would have two siblings who are older, I suppose that may not be an issue. Your son may either really enjoy having the other little boy to play with, or be resentful because of it. It could go both ways.
I have always had a very mixed age group, and for me, I think it is why I don't enjoy daycare as much as I did when I started. There is something to be said for an under 4 crowd. However, it can be done, but the older ones do get a bit bored. Atleast here they do.

I had a 7 yr old yrs ago she was a girl and liked to floow me around and help and did a lot of drawing/coloring. I'm assuming these boys won't do that and boys in this area are very active so I have to get ready. I worry about our swingset too. I just bought a new one last yr and it holds all my kids plus my 9 yr old but he's so skinny he weighs as much as a 4 yr old anyway. I'm thinking are the swings gonna snap? Slide buckle? I'm a worry wart but these kids look big! The set is a big Flexible Flyer anchored by cement under the ground but still weight makes me wonder. Thank goodness I only have to worry for summer a couple months and they will be in school.

Ugh nap time... wasn't thinking about that! I know they wont be napping either. Hmm maybe not a blessing after all? Nap is when I get to work so I don't have to work all night! I do dusting, dishes, lesson planning, craft clean up, and laundry if my assistant is here to watch the kids sleep, won't be doing any of that now. What do u guys do for older kids during nap when they can't be loud yet have to remain in the house? The kids usually nap 2 hrs so i can't have boys color for 2 hrs. hmmm
