Potty Breaks Of Those With No Assistants...

Just curious how some of you guys do potty breaks for yourselves?? I'm lucky enough to have a small ranch house so the bathroom is in the middle of everything and i only have 4 kids. Just curious....

I just announce to the kids that I'm going and then I go and come back asap. When I had 7 kids at once I had to have some of them sit in the hallway because they would misbehave without me in the room. Usually we all go one right after another so for the most part play gets a bit broken and takes a few minutes before any get over crazy again and I usually go in the few quieter minutes. Currently I only have two preschoolers so it's super easy to get away for a few minutes.

I hold it for naptime or wait for a moment when Hubs can watch. Since his deployment I have been doin' a whole lotta holding it.

Make sure that each of the children are contained and go about your business.

I tell the kids I'm going and go super fast. I try to hold it as long as I can. Normally once or twice a day is all I ever go. (AND I'm even pregnant, !) They all wait at the bottom of the stairs for me, so I can hear them all anyways. (At the most I ever have is 4 kiddos)

I usually don't get to go until I get home. At one point, I was limiting my food and water intake....I was basically starving myself so I would'nt have to go to the bathroom because I have no assistant and get no breaks.

Even I write that it sounds insane...my job really is a struggle some days.

But anyway, if I absolutely must go...I wait til nap and use one of the children's toilets...after I've sanitized it.

I have separate sleeping rooms so anytime the adult can't be in the room ALL the children are contained either in their bed or playpen while the adult goes to do whatever they need to do in another room.

We don't allow kids up and playing without an adult in the room with them at all times.

I put the 11-month-old in the playpen or highchair and the 4 toddlers stand outside the bathroom door talking to me. I told my husband it's like they're zombies and they're after my brains...just sort of stumbling around out there... "Luuunaaaa! What are you dooooing? Are you coming out? Are you finished yet? Are you going potty???" There's no way they're walking away from that door.

I have up to 9 kids when I'm alone so I usually have to go once or twice while they're just with me since I close the daycare and I drink diet coke on my lunch break. I will not go without my diet coke! LOL I make sure the babies are in the "baby zone" or sleeping safely in their pnp and make sure all the kids are playing nicely with each other. Our bathroom is a regular sized toilet, but it's right off our main room. The downfall for using our bathroom is no lock so kids sometimes open the door and we have big windows that are open (the shades) so if they open the door and someone walks by outside they'll see me! UGH, glad it hasn't happened yet. I also make an announcement: I have to go potty nobody come in! and make eye contact with the oldest in the room. I don't like it when parents arrive and see no adult in the room for the one minute I need to go that is why I make sure the oldest knows so she tells them if they ask. Parents always show up at random times without notice.

I try to go right before drop off then hold it til nap time. If I can't then I take the kids to the hallway and sit them in a row against the wall and go VERY quickly! After nap I usually have my son (9) or my Mother here that can watch them for a minute.

I have had 2 kids take off together in the past and start destroying things in literally a minute. That's all it takes

I had 1 DCM that wanted her 2 yr old to go with me and sit in the bathroom. HUH UH, NO WAY, NO HOW! U can find another provider if u like. Luckily she agreed he could just wait in the playpen I had set up at the time.

Our current group doesn't destroy things, but when parents show up randomly they leave the door open which has a child proof handle over it and one of my two year olds runs off! That happened two weeks ago and I was mad! I just went in the bathroom when this mom arrived leaving the door open (we're inside a secure building) and I talked to her a minute when I got done in the bathroom and shut the door, did my head count, was one short and instantly knew so and so took off, ugh. I had to carry the baby with me and put our oldest in charge for the time I speed walked down the hallway yelling for this child to come back--30 seconds later we're back. Thank God! All the parents know to make sure no other kids are allowed in the hallway unless they're their own child now!

I go fast and make sure the kids are involved in something- like a PP said if someone is having a difficult day they will sit in one spot until I return.

wow, I have 2 bathrooms on the main floor where my daycare area is. I just can't imagine holding it all day.

I just go. I am pregnant and go about 2 an hour so I could not imagine interrupting the kids just to go. I have taught my kids to behave regarless of if I am standing next to them or not so I don't have any issues there. In fact I have two playrooms and wander between the two and can trust the 5 yr olds going to K next year will be fine if I change a diaper in the other room or go potty without them.

When my infant is here she goes in a pnp so I know she is safe.
