    Schedule Changes...Changing Hours of Operation

I had a family drop down to part time during the summer months. I have another that is a teacher's child and will be gone for 9 weeks.

With that in mind, my summer should be pretty easy considering I'll only have 5 kids 3 days a week, 4 kids 2 days a week and 3 kids on Fridays.

I'd like to change my closing time on Friday's by a half hour during the summer months to reflect the changes. Closing a half hour earlier than usual will only affect one family and they are always last to pick up on Fridays and wait til the last possible minute or are up to 5 minutes late. (They've been charged for being late.)

Has anyone else changed their hours? Were there any consequences that followed?

Are the parents able to get from their job to your home in the alloted time? If yes, I'd change it.

i honestly don't have open-close hours. i schedule based on the needs of the family. bt i definitely would not go any later than 6 pm. I do not advertise that i am willing to stay open this late either. because I don't want to. but if a family asks for 6pm, i let them know that the minute the clock is past 6pm, OT applies.

can anyone tell me why, all of a sudden, when i post in a thread, it shows as a new post to me. it never did this before. when i click new posts, if i was the last one to post, it shows up.

I don't think half an hour early is that big of a deal either way. If it is absolutely doable for this family to get there at this time, then talk about a change...if they cannot, I don't think it would be fair to them...especially since it's only for a few weeks (summer).

I would not change hours that would effect existing families.

I did change my hours from 7:30-6:00 to 8-5:15 last year. I waited until the one child who used the full hours left and then changed. I still had one little girl who sometimes came at 7:45, but mostly she came between 8:30 and 9:00. I told her parents that she was welcome to come before 8:00, but send me a text and let me know since it was so infrequent. That worked well.

Now that I changed my hours, I don't make any long-term exceptions. I do allow early drop off or late pick up once in awhile if a parent asks. I don't charge for it.
