so much fun to wake up 6 kiddos and head down to the storage room in the basement during a tornado warning. No diapers, no snacks, we did have a TV and watched Tinkerbell for 30 minutes. Now the kids are either wired from the excitement or crying in exhaustion. I should charge more on bad weather days, ha ha! Note to self: create an emergency diapers/snacks/entertainment kit to stay in the basement for emergencies.

that's so scary! how do you know when the warnings over? do you have a radio to listen to? or just the tv?
i have nightmares thinking about how i would wrangle all the kids and animals into the basement and keep them in a corner. we'd go under the stairs so that we'd be enclosed on 3 sides, and have protection from falling things above.
we've never really had tornados where i live, but nearby. but last summer, my last daycare kids left about 3pm, and at 4 pm there were funnel clouds about 3 blocks up. super scary.
i love storms, lightening and thunder, but when it's dead calm outside, or extremely windy, i get worried.- Flag

we have sirens. plus my husband has access to up to date weather info thru work and called me. i also had the TV on waiting for the official report. I REALLY didn't want to wake kids up from naps but of course, safety first. Now one of my little ones is going home early. She is so upset about being woken up during nap and has been crying for an hour.- Flag

Ugh, how scary! I hate tornados. I just noticed that we are under a watch right now and am kind of glad...now I don't have to feel guilty about keeping them in this afternoon.
We have had a warning or two while I"ve been doing daycare, and one was during nap. Fortunately our naproom is pretty much the tornado shelter (my house really has no *good* place to shelter, the naproom is one of two "best" possibilities. Also, our sirens are county wide and the county is very large, so I flip the weather on to see where the bad part of the storm is. If it's way on the extreme southern end of the county (we're on the extreme north end) I will just keep my eye on it and not shelter...if the bad part is coming anywhere near us, we take cover.Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!- Flag
