    My screamer....

Turns out, I don't mind letting her scream. LOL.

If you'd asked me a year ago if I'd ever let a baby cry... I'd have been shocked and said "NO!" But.. I was wrong. It doesn't even pull on my heart.

I think it's the way she's screaming though. That, and the fact that her Mom says she's screamed every day of her life, and nothing has worked. SO, I don't feel like it's personal.. she just screams.

So.. it's not as nice as the radio, but it's our new background noise.

I'm glad you are getting used to it but I think that would be difficult to deal with on a consistent basis. Is the baby ever happy/not screaming?

I had a screamer who turned into a normal toddler. When he was an infant, he screamed all day long, no matter what I tried. So, eventually I just left him to cry. I set him up with toys or whatever the other little ones were doing and he'd just cry...all day long. It was horrible. I some days wanted to run away, but one day things got better. He doesn't cry anymore, he is a normal, active almost two yr old. The kicker is, I signed up a new dck last summer and they turned out to be a screamer! Just like the first boy. She still cries on occassion, but not nearly as bad as before...always over nothing.

I had a screamer once and it was my own kid. :: I can laugh now but he has always been an INTENSE kid. I tried a pacifier in Church when he was a baby and he managed to humm right through it.

My son talks almost constantly - even when he goes to the bathroom or takes a shower. I guess it's bottled up because I asked his teacher if she has that problem with him and she doesn't.

Depending on age - try pumping her legs - maybe she's gassy?

If she just likes the sound of her own voice (like my son did) encourage her to sing. Sometimes it's better.

Try singing TO her - it can be a distraction - if that works then you can encourage the other daycare kids to sing to her too when she starts to fuss.

Smiles can be contagious - so everybody smile.. and grin.. and bear it.

            Best wishes!

I had one last year that was the sourest, most miserable 1 year old ever. If she wasn't screaming for hours she was just grumpy and had a pouty lip. It lasted 4 months and she snapped out of it one day. She's still a screamer at home but she's a pretty happy 2 year old here. She has maybe one tantrum a week and it's usually related to coming inside. That lady loves her some dirt!

I had no problem letting her scream either. The scream was just different from her "I actually need something" cry.

Yes, her scream is very annoying, but it's totally different than her hurt or need something scream.
