I wanted to discuss my weekly payment. I know we had discussed a pay amount of approximately $******/week. After much thought and consideration I wanted to let you know that while I am still enthusiastic & excited about the prospect of assisting your family with your childcare needs, I would need to ask for a rate of $_____/day or $____/week in order to come help your family. I feel that with the extra household chores we discussed not related to the children this is a fair wage for my services. I also feel that I could take on ______ (task) and _______ (task) at this wage.

Please discuss this with *** and let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks,

Thank you for re-organizing my words. . . I like that much better. My only thought was I am not sure I want to put in the part about being a fair wage. The parents probably think the original amt is fairer since it was cheaper!::

I did e-mail the parents the revised copy above. Thanks JenNJ!

I did add that I was willing to forego pay over Christmas, we had discussed them paying me for that 1 1/2 weeks even though I would not provide care. I just let them know I was willing to give that up in order to have the slightly higher wage each week. Will keep you posted. Keeping my fingers crossed.

        Update on e-mail sent!

Thank you again for all the advice you offered. I went ahead & sent the e-mail leaving out all the personal reasons. I made sure to let them know I was still very enthusiastic about working with their family. The mom wrote back & very sweetly told me that the pay amount I asked for would be okay I am still feeling silly about asking, I hated doing it but I would hate it even more if I went into the job making less & feeling like I was working for peanuts. Anyway. . . now I feel like things are settled & I can enjoy a relaxing summer (in a week) with my kids knowing I have a job set in stone this fall. I'm excited about getting out of the house. The past year or so I have felt like I needed to step away from in-home childcare. Working FT at it is not my forte. That's why I am so happy about this job b/c it will give me the chance to still do what I love but have some time off wach week too

Thank you again for your advice ladies, you are the greatest!!!!
