Sick Kid, Mom not working update

Okay, so update. The poor kid was sick all Friday night and Saturday. According to DCM, she was better Sunday. But after leaving her here today she texted me and asked me to keep her on a bland diet. Asked if I could make her something different for lunch, etc. I don't think she's sick anymore, and I get the avoiding milk thing, but honestly, if a kid doesn't feel up to being here, and can't do what we are doing, eat what we are eating... I wish parents would just consider how many kids I have here and how much easier it is for them to cater to those needs. Not that making her something bland is a huge deal, but....

Oh well, I'm going to have a fabulous week! ::

That annoys me to, dcps don't understand you are not only cooking for their child you have others. I understand the milk also, but come on if she needs something special to eat she should be at home. Getting a text after she left also annoys me, because she more than likely didn't want to say it to your face so that you could question her about how dcg really is feeling. I would fix her something bland because I would feel bad for her and it's not her fault dcm brought her anyway. That's the thing about being a provider is we do care and put the kids first.

Exactly. I agree with all of this. Of course I will fix her something bland. It's not her fault. But yeah, she could have TOLD me. Thanks for understanding!

Just be careful with the scenario where the parent confirms illness on the days previous that will not warrant exclusion but then say the day that does warrant exclusion (in this case Sunday's health would affect Monday day care) the child is "mostly" well.

This can actually mean that the kid was sick on Sunday but they are going to return her to day care with their words. Those words include giving you notice that the child needs special for the "illness that doesn't warrant exclusion."

This assures that you keep an extra eye on the child, make dietary changes, and gives the parent a reason to keep in touch while checking on their child.

It could be that the child was better yesterday BUT I would watch her very closely. ONE sign of ANY illness and I would exclude today and tomorrow.

In this case, I would require the child to remain home the following day after I sent them home from care. Ensures the child gets a minimum of 24 hours away from care.

Most parents do not want the child to get sent home from care and then ALSO required to stay home the next day also, so they are pretty good about just keeping them home the first day.
