Decision Time

Next school year I only have 1 lined up. Right now I have 2, one will be in preschool and the other is off to Kindergarten. I applied for a fill in job at my local school and got it. It's done on line and the jobs are posted a couple of days before and you can accept them or not. I also have fill in jobs for every school district in the county I live in, the preschool program, and a daycare center.

I can't decide if I should just tough it out with one and hope for more calls. I have advertised, put up signs, done craigslist, told everyone that I know and still have not had any calls. Would you keep your daycare open for one or do the fill in jobs. With the fill in jobs I don't have to work every day. I have done home daycare for 17 years and really am torn about leaving it. It's not about the money, it's more about me feeling useful and like I have a purpose and I like to have the money for extras.

My hubby did sub paraprofessional jobs before he got a full time position, the phone rang ALL the time. Also, if you keep doing sub job, you never know when a full time position will open. He works from 7:45 to 2:45...benefits, retirement...I'd go with the sub job!

Sub job! I am also thinking of doing this but with the way our school are going here I'm never sure if they will have those jobs available so wouldn't want to totaly quit till I make sure they keep them. You can work when you want with subbing and probably will make more money if you only have one lined up right now. Also you get all the holidays off and if you wanted to offer care for those day for the SA you could certainly do that. Good luck!

Our subs are privatized through PCMI. The one that I have lined up wouldn't start until Oct. when dcm goes back to work so I do have a couple of months I could do it and see how it works. Thanks for the help, I think I will get my paper work into to the preschool and center.
