    Messed Up My Times

So today I had to drop off and pick up a new DCB at a preschool grad party and I could have sworn that the DCM said it was at 11;30-1:30. I even wrote that time down. My daughter told me at 1;00 that we had to go get him, and I said no at 1;30. She said that she heard her say 1:00pm. So now im second guessing myself, so i packed up the kids so fast and drove there. as i was pulling in the parking lot his teacher called me and said that DCB is waiting for you.......... i told her im right here and i must have got my times wrong. So i go in and get him and his aunt is sitting there with DCB and looking all like ha ha your in trouble. I told them that DCM said 11:30-1:30 and im sorry. They said thats ok. Ya right! I was 15 min late. I will be telling DCM about this and will apologize.

Has this ever happened to anyone else and did you get fired?
I hope i dont, it was truly a mistake.

No, I didn't need to reread what you said. YOU picked up a daycare child from his preschool late. Most preschools and daycares charge a late fee when a child is picked up late. Will the parents be charged for a late pick up because you were late?

I would hope you wouldn't get fired for being late one time. People make mistakes, you're only human. Make sure mom writes the note in advance anytime a schedule is changed, not just a verbal reminder.

I'm sorry there was a mix up. Sometimes parents make mistakes too so it is possible she said 1:30. Just be thankful u had a sweet little reminder.

This is why I get so much in writing right down to the parents work schedules and vacations. Then they can't come back and say "I said such and such" Uh no u didn't here's your writing.

I hope they don't "fire" u. Everyone makes mistakes and u were there just a lil late so I would think u will be ok. Good luck update us!

              Hope they don't

Oh no! It seems like an honest mistake, so I hope they don't fire you...but try to think about how you would feel if they were the late ones and you were there waiting...You would probably be pretty upset, so I guess don't be surprised if they are upset. Just apologize and see where it goes.

What I find sad is his mom wasn't even at his preschool grad party. Couldn't the aunt have helped get him back to your house. I don't mind transporting children for field trips and such that I plan but there is no way I would be responsible for getting them back and forth to preschool/school and such.

His aunt was at the grad party cause her own child goes to the same preschool. Anyway DCM wasnt mad at me, she also thought she may have said 1:30, cause the next party started at that time. So all is good. DCM was at his grad ceremony, but not the party, she has to work, no choice.

                      Thanks all for your opinions.

I agree, where were his parents? I would never do this.
