    2 Year Old With Bottle?

I have a new dcb, who will be 2 in August. This is his first time ever in daycare. Grandma has been watching him since birth. His mom brings him midmorning with a baby bottle with milk and rice cereal in it. He never drinks it. The only time it is given to him is at lunch.

I know the boy will drink from a sippy cup because he has drank milk using a cup before. Sometimes mom will bring him with an additional cup of juice, plus bottle of rice cereal.

    The bottle creates many problems.
-It's a distraction to the other children at lunchtime. He doesn't eat for me, he pushes everything away. Mom says he eats fine at home. It is a huge distraction to my 16 month old, because seeing a bottle is a new thing to him (he never took one.)
-He doesn't drink from it, only chews on the nipple.
-He carries the bottle in with him, and it creates a meltdown when I take it away.
-It's just one more outside thing that I have to keep track of. I must dump it, rinse it out, and put it back in his bag. I forgot it here once and got in trouble by his dad.
-Why rice cereal? Isn't he a bit old for that, let alone a bottle?

I just revised my contract. In it, I am stressing that NO outside cups, food, drinks, or toys are allowed. It creates too many distractions and too much for me to keep track of. I feel weird about giving them a revised contract, since they just signed my other one a month ago. That and I just don't think they'll follow thru with my new rule.

What would you ladies do about this?

I revised my contract, this last year, with this in it- I will provide all milk, and table food, when child turns one if not before.

You need to decide you are going to stick with your own rules or not. It doesnt matter what they do at home as long as they don't bring it with them. Tell them to leave the bottle at home or in the car. Dont give it to this little boy and if it comes in, dump it and put it away right away. This is what I do for any outside item. I have had parents wanting to come by at 9 at night for a forgotten lovey and that kind of thing. Its more of a crutch for the parent but I dont know a single kid that doesnt do just fine without their bottle, binky, lovey, etc. Start being consistent with parents and kiddo and thats that OR put up with the bottle hunt every day for who knows how long.
