Merry Mentor - Do You Hire Someone Without a Child Care 1 License?

I have a question for daycare providers. Do any of you ever hire individuals who do not have a Child Care 1 license. In Wisconsin it is required. I represent an individual with a disability who could not pass the test but is amazing with the children she has worked with as a volunteer. She has so much to offer but I do not know if it is possible for her to actually work without the license. Any thoughts? Thank you

In NY as long as the person passes the fingerprinting and doesn't have a child abuse/neglect case and has 3 years working with children, I can hire them. Raising your own children count towards that 3 years. They don't need any kind of credentials. Good luck!

In MI, the facility is licensed, in my name. i can hire anyone that passes a background check. If they are going to be alone w/ the children they also need to be certified in cpr/first aid and know and understand policies, safe sleep practices etc.
