    Letting Assistant Go

She is just not a good fit. Has the day off today and as of last night I am done...

I feel bad without notice, but I am just done.. She has been here a little bit over a month.

What do I say besides 'we are just not a good fit'?
    any advice?

If your state is an employment at will state you don't have to say anything at all. Just like terminating a daycare family just say effective immediately your employment has been terminated.

I think it would be kind of crumby not to give her some notice unless you had an at will employment agreement with her.

I had an assistant for over 5 years some years back, it was nice having the extra hands now and again, but I decided I like to run solo better.

Even though it may be uncomfortable, I would provide her with some feedback as far as what made you decide to let her go. No one can improve if they don't know what they did wrong.

          I agree with this!!!

I would at least tell her whether it's performance, not a good fit, changes within the daycare, downsizing, etc.
