    Annoying Bandaids.....Ugh

So how do all of your deal with bandaids? I am thinking about not allowing them any more in DC because they always seem to end up on the floor or in someones mouth.....WHICH is so GROSS...

However, I stopped to think about what the parents will say if I tell them sorry I am not going to allow any more bandaids....

    Do you allow them?

Yes, I would rather a sore be covered.

I only allow band aids when they are up. No band aids in bed. The parents "declare" the band aids on arrival and we keep track of them during play time. If we see a kid doinking with them then we remove them.

I have spare clothes here and just make sure the area is covered. If there is a picking issue or a touching issue on a sore I would put a mitted sweashirt or shirt on them at nap.

If it's nap time and the child removes the bandaid I don't give them another one until nap is over.

I don't like them and never use them myself unless someone is bleeding. Even then I take it off once it stops. I remove them if I can see them on the kids but I don't mention it to the parents. If they ask I say it was hanging off which it usually is. :P

I don't mind them when they're covering something that needs covered (i.e. hasn't scabbed over yet), of when they're in a location that doesn't move (like the shin or the forearm).

I really, really, REALLY mind them on scrapes/cuts that are thoroughly scabbed and even worse...on knees and elbows and knuckles.

DCB came yesterday with some relatively fresh scrapes on his knee and elbow (meaning, they happened between pick up the night before and drop off yesterday morning). The band-aids had fallen off within an hour (picked off the knee and fell off the elbow). The scrapes were scabbed, I left them open.

Today...he comes with fresh bandaids!!! I don't GET it! They're scabbed, they're in very um, moveable, locations, and they are freaking scabbed!!! Why did they put new band-aids on?!?
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

              eeewwwww..

I think that I might go hitler on this one, but i am going to request that the parents use adult bandaids that actually stick to the skin and are harder to peel off. That is if the child really needs to have a bandaid, otherwise NO other types allowed..

I was so grossed out to find a bandaid that was one child in a different childs mouth........

My son has in the last few weeks scraped his knees a number of times. One scrape isnt even healed and another one comes. We just bought the big fabric ones that come with the extra sticky stuff to keep them one. Before these he was pulling them off within 30-1 hour and asking for more. I put one on after bath the other night and had to soak it with water on a washcloth to get it off the next night. He didn't cry when I took it off either so the sticky stuff must not hurt more than removing any other bandaid.

I have never had a problem with bandaids and daycare kids.
