    Week 3 CIO

YIKES! I am on week 3 of CIO with a 1 yr old. Started 3 mondays ago. Usually cries 10 min and falls asleep. Wakes no more than 20 minutes later and cries the entire rest of nap time. Stands up in pnp screaming. She is very tired the rest of day at daycare and needs a nap.

Attends 5 days every week. Mom is no help, says give her milk in bed- NOT GOING TO HAPPEN EVER, NICE TRY! I have stopped even telling mom b/c she just thinks I should take her out and play with her, "then she will sleep better at night anyway." HA, I am not a nanny, nice try!

How long do you keep this up? I have turned on the basement radio (lullaby) for the other kids as she is in her own room but still waking EVERYONE up. I even have the radio upstairs on for my on sanity and so the upstairs kids aren't woken by her. I have even moved her pnp to the furthest wall from everyone and closed all vents but seriously the noise is too much for anyone to sleep through.

Does anyone put safe (like soft) books in pnp for kids like this or should I just keep sticking it out?

Tonight I am purchasing earplugs for myself!

As much as I HATE it..I have used tv for my terrible nappers. I do not like tv even for me so the DV kids do not get it LOL If after two weeks the screams continue - I try the tv. If it works I stick with it for awhile, sometimes with a timer. Once they seem to be comfortable with my schedule I try to put them down with out the tv.
But for those that refuse to take naps for what ever reason, and tend to keep others up..the TV is sometimes my savior. It does not always work but when it does...it is a blessing.
I do not ever place toys with the kids as they will think nap time is play time as they get older. I also do not EVER give them liquid of any sort at nap so with you on that one.

Eventually she will get it and Mondays may still be rough but if you stick it out (without stimulation) you will notice each week she cries less. I assume Mom doesn't bother trying as I have seen with my rough ones. Kids cry - mom gets them up..see it all too often.

Good luck!! (Nap time is my sanity time, so I try everything LOL)

For most kids it works in 2 weeks.

The worst CIO length was a month, almost 5 weeks. He is 3 now and the best napper in the whole wide world now.::

You are cultivating good nap skills so I wouldn't ever resort to tv.

I should have said started the CIO 3 mondays ago. Has been in care since 12 weeks and never had nap issues until abuot a month ago. Who knows why.... just started screaming after sleeping only a little bit. I think she is in the habit of crying and getting out at home.
