When Is It Not A Rash?

If anyone has advise here I would greatly appreciate it!

I have a 2 yr old dcb that has had a rash above the pubic area just under the front of the diaper for at least a week now. It was there all last week and when he was brought today some of the bumbs have gotten larger. It's more red around the area and a few bumbs are now forming white heads or so it seems. I have asked the DCM 2 times about this rash last week. She says it's from heat but I was always told heat rash should only last a few days. It's been at least a whole week if not longer.

When she came for pick up today I told her the bumps are larger and now forming white heads and he has been putting his hands down there. She shrugged her shoulders. I said "Well is that normal?" She said "it's just a heat rash I told u that." OK "was he checked out?" ...."No it's a heat rash!" She was getting impatient with me so I dropped it but surely she knows what my underlying concern is. Her other child has had MRSA a couple times, most recently 2 months ago just before they came to me, it was on that childs rear. That child also has a couple questionable bumps recently I have inquired about simply because I am afraid and don't know what it looks like when it begins. When I inquire/inform about that childs bumps she says the same, it's the heat, but it has been cold and rainy here until recently. These children are also not very clean. They come here with long thick black fingernails I have to soak and clean the crud out from under them before they can even play or eat. Now with the bumps turning to heads and the dck putting hands down there...

My fear is if it is MRSA and since she doesn't bathe them regularly, let alone wash their hands, it will be passed on to my home, toys, and worst of all other children and my family. I have told her maybe she should have it looked at, she gets a free medical card for God's sake! She refuses chalking it up to heat. What can I do? Does this sound like a normal heat rash? I am so afraid I am bleaching everything in sight tonight!

This family is a state paid family and I can't make her see a Dr. I tried to call the office and ask what I could do but the lady has gone for the day. I can call back tomorrow but worry she will say there's nothing I can do. So in everyone elses experience here what CAN I do?

Tell her that for the safety of the other kids in care and for you and your family...you need to have a note from the doctor telling you it is just a heat rash or the child cannot come to day care.
I don't know if you are licensed or not...but the state here does not allow us to take kids with rashes unless we have a note on file from a doctor explaining exactly what it is.

Demand a dr visit & note

I dealt with a family recently in my daycare with a possible MRSA situation. Luckily for me, the DCM took the DCG to the dr right when this weird boil turned up and had her on antibiotics ASAP and kept her home all week. We were never 100% sure that it was MRSA, but she took all the precautions necessary just in case.

I think it helped that I told her that she needed to get it checked and bring me a drs note. There was no way for her to hide it when I demanded a note. So my advice would be to tell the mom that basically she needs to take the child to the dr and provide you with a drs note stating that it is definitely NOT MRSA and that they are ok to be in daycare. You need to do it for the safety of your other daycare kids and especially your own family.

If the DCM cant do that - then I would say "see ya!". If you have any questions about MRSA stuff, you can message me.

I thought of your other post recently while doing some research on impetigo. Again, it's another serious infection but one of the articles mentioned the yellow fluid filled sores on the buttocks.

Very contagious and yep, you may have a 2nd child infected there. Handle with extreme caution and care.
