All the kids where picked up today EARLY!! All said Happy Mother's Day...no Happy Providers Day...but I am ok with that bc I got a huge hug from one of my little guys!!

Down side...one of my daycare moms said she interviewed for a new job and they excepted her. More pay...I am of course happy for her!! But it's further then she works now. Can you say more hours for me??!!!!

I dread the call on asking me to get up extra early and pick up later. My hrs are 7am - 4:30pm. Hubby said no way to anything later then 5pm. It cuts into family time.

I could charge more...but I treasure my family time. It might mean they have to look else where for care.

That's awesome. I had my latest mom tell me she'd be here between 4 and 4:30. She came at 5. But it was still earlier than normal, so I can't complain.

Lets cross our fingers she gets a shift to be done in time for u. I run until 6:30 for 1 kid and I hate it but the DCM always pays and on time so I keep him. It really cuts into family time especially on school nights when my sons bedtime routine starts at 8:00 only leaving us 1 1/2 hrs family time per day thru the week. Summer really bites too but at least he can stay up longer.

I think the thing for me is that I have scheduled activities with my own children. I work it around the last pick up time. I wonder if she is thinking about how much time her son will be in my care if she drops him off early and picks up later....?? I think it would be like 11-12 hrs. That is just to much for me. She mentioned that it is just to good of money to pass up...but to have your child in care for that long. I don't know. I am kind of uncomfortable with that. I absolutely love that little guy but when the new baby comes to me it will be the same hrs. Brother would be in a Montessori school when baby is placed with me. I don't think that would be good for a new born infant not to mention I have already 2nd thought about taken a infant on when I already have 3 toddlers under 3 yrs old....which 2 need to be potty trained.

I'm glad to see any provider looking at it from this point of view.

Whether or not the child can manage the long days is just ONE aspect of the decision. The PROVIDER needs to be considered too.

The provider needs to recognize when SHE is unable to do those long hours OR whether or not she can manage to have any child that number of hours.

I work twelve hours a day now and I can manage that with the group I have. I know "I" couldn't manage having any one of the kids here that many hours. I couldn't manage the child who was in day care eleven/twelve hours. The services I provide are just two naps.. two play times or two play times and one nap.

I couldn't have a kid here for ANOTHER play time without having a nap/break in the late afternoon. I would have to have them go down for an evening nap so I could have a break and have supper with my kid.

It just wouldn't work no matter what with my schedule.

That is how I feel. I think we all love our "long time" families but taking on the much responsibility is to much. When I started with this family there little guy was 3 months and he was my only one until he was over a yr old. That was around the time I wanted to have other playmates for him and my daughter. Now that I have 3 toddlers. It just isn't feesable for me to add a infant into daycare. I will need to speak with her over summer break (teacher) so I won't have her son all through out the break. That way she can find suitable care, maybe same sort of set up that I had with her son before I added kids. I'm going to miss them terrible but I think for both of us it's the safest thing for her and me.
