    Probation Periods?

I have a bully and want to give the parents a probation contract in hopes of his behavior improving in that time! How long of a probation period is fair? Could I see a sample probation contract if you have one? I have never had to do this before!

I have a two week probation period but have never had anything change in that timeframe. It is more of a courtesy to the parent so they see that I am serious about the issue and it appears that I have done everything I could on my end to make things work. After the two weeks, I give myself the right to straight out terminate or hang in there for two additional weeks if I am feeling generous and want to allow the parents that time to find another provider.

I just went through something similar with a child that we had significant behavior issues with. I gave them a 30 day probation along with a plan of action identifying what the issues were and what we were doing to address them. I told the parents they needed to be on the same page as us and working to address the same issues so there was consistency.

I do that as well. But in this case the child was bearable for the first two weeks and then went downhill from there.
