For Those That Brush Teeth During The Day

I just have 2 questions for those of you that have the kids brush during the day. I was thinking about heading out to get everyone a little brush tonight and start having them brush after lunch before nap.

    1) Where/how do you store the brushes?
    2) Do you use paste or just water?

when my dck's are old enough to start brushing (they don't have more than a couple chicklets right now) i will be getting them each a brush, and they will just use training toothpaste. as for storing, i would probably get those covers and put them in there. just so that they aren't touching heads.

We don't do teeth brushing for day care kids.

We have 16 kids and state rules say that every toothbrush must be stored separately (their bathroom isn't big enough!) and quite frankly, helping 16 kids to brush after each meal would take half the day!!!

I have had a some bring their own toothbrushes and toothpaste. Since all the drawers in my bathroom are empty except for a hair brush in one, they stored them in one of the drawers inside a travel toothbrush holder with their name on it.

I would never start this, even with only 3-4 children, it would take a long time- after each meal and snacks---

My Dh copied this design for me. My holder holds 14 toothbrushes. I use regular toothpaste for the kids. I got free toothbrushes (100 of them) by visiting Colgate.com a few years ago and they signed me up for a program that gives individual toothbrushes and tooth past in little informational packets for each child. The kit includes color pages, charts and enough brushes to keep one at care and send one home. I do not know if the program is still available but if you contact them it can't hurt to ask.

I have this toothbrush holder with the cover. I have a dcm who is a dental hygienist, so she comes during dental health week and brings the kids all new toothbrushes.

I use one pump type toothpaste and I put it on the brushes for them ~just a dab~it really doesn't take that long, just part of our naptime routine.

I only have a small group, but we brush only after lunch. Not after snacks. I have enough room for 2 at a time at the sink. They each brought their own toothbrushes/paste. I dab on the toothpaste, let them try a little (30 secs) then I brush for them. Its take maybe 5 minutes to do the 3-4 kids I have here at any one time. I keep begging DH to redo our hall bathroom so I have a kid's height trough style sink and they can all line up at once. But I'm dreaming

We brush after breakfast and lunch here. Really not that time consuming. The kids here start brushing as soon as their teeth come in. For the babies they pretty much just hold the toothbrush and chew on it but whatever gets them used to it. Any child under 1 gets only the toothbrush, kids under 3 get water and kids over 3 get kids toothpaste.

I also have a dentist friend that gives us dental hygiene stuff every 6 months so we all get new toothbrushes 2x's a year. As a toothbrush holder I just made holes in the bottom of a wipe container big enough for toothbrush handles to slide through and bought toothbrush covers in the $1 section at target. I think I got 4 covers for a dollar. I wrote each child's name on the toothbrush and the cover to keep them from getting mixed up.

I agree, it's not time consuming at all and my kids love it! I just store their brushes in a toothbrush holder I got at Target. It keeps them all seperate. I also just dab a teeny bit of kids Crest on their brushes for them and then let them go to town for a few seconds before I take over for about a minute, then we rinse and it's on to the second kid. I only have a single sink so it takes about 10 minutes to do 4 kids. Then it's off to nap!

I have a sma bathroom so they get put in a ziplock. We clean them with denatl toothbrush wash weekly and then rid if the after illness.
I have parents who are in the dental field but don't ever stress the hygiene of good brushing. In fact their kids are 4 and 2.5.
4 yr Is still on the pacy at home
And 2.5 is still on the bottle. Lol. Ugh
