Parents Took The Bottle Away....Not a Good Time in My Opinion

My 1 year old just had surgery on Monday to have a growth removed, has a huge 4 inch incision on his back, is teething and I think possibly has another EI, and parents decided now is the time to take the bottle away!!! He took an ok nap this morning, but WILL NOT sleep this afternoon. All he has done is scream. I hate to just leave him to cry with his back hurting and his ears and stuff, but I can't have him out screaming in the main part of the house where the others are sleeping. I have gone in a few times to try to calm him by rubbing his head and singing to him, but he just wants picked up. If I pick him up he wants put down. Not happy AT ALL. So, put my earbuds in, and am just going to let him CIO for a bit. I hate this!

wow that is bad timing... I would talk to the parents and let them know that you feel this way... I had one family that decided that they were going to just stop everything in their childs life when their new baby came....like took away the paccy, the sleeping blanket, the sippy cup, and last her little lamb baby...............UUUGGGHH talk about pure you know what.... After a week, I could not take it anymore and told them they needed to start with one thing at a time. they took all of her comfort and security away in a time she probably needed it most.....

Lucky for me the DCP agreeded and within two months everything was gone....But come on people why not just hit the kid where it hurts.........boo not a great idea at this time...thats my thought too

I would talk to the parents again. Are you sure they have actually weaned him at home or are they making you do the dirty work?

oh lordy lordy.... I have been going through the battle of the bottle for almost 3 months... I ended up terming the kid.... age 2 trying to get off the bottle, but parents were lying to me and trying to get me to do the dirty work.....

I finally threw in the towel and said no more....

very good point this could be it as well...

yup, that was me with a 2 year old as well. Mom and I were weaning, dad was sneaking DCG bottles. I caught him and told on him, ha ha! He is the one that loves to see the now 2.5 year old with loveys, binky, being carried and baby talked too and all things baby, oy.
