    Yeast Infection/Diaper Rash

I have a 17 month old DCG. She was on amox for 10 days, ending last Thursday. Last week she had diaper rash. DCM figured it was from pooping a lot. Still there yesterday and I went, ah ha, this is yeast. So DCM calls the advice nurse - hydrocortisone/monostat applied each diaper change, with Desitin over the top. Okay, I can do that. BUT - no wipes. Only washcloths. DMC said she'd bring lots and ziploc bags to put them in. She's here for 11 hours today. DCM brought 5 washcloths! She pooped within 15 minutes of arrival. Luckily not her usual amount. Has anyone ever had a situation like this? If this were my kid, I would have grandma watch her (yes, grandma watches her 2 days a week anyway. Retired) rather than make my DC provider deal with all of this. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

One of my kids was the queen of yeast infections so I don't think it's a huge deal. Tell mom you need lots of baby washcloths for future days that you can wet as needed. For today use papertowel wet with warm soapy water to clean her up. Pat don't rub. Let her bum dry off as much as possible before putting the cream on. It should be much better within 24-48 hours.

I lay them on puppy training pads (on the changing table) and rinse their bottoms with warm water and baking soda (about 1/2 tsp) with an unused condiment bottle from the dollar store.

      Toss whole thing in trash.

      Pat dry with paper towels.

Apply cream with gloved hands (yes, you can get it)

You can have DCM pick up a couple packs of puppy pads, they are really cheap and easy to find.

This is how I treat all diaper rash.
      - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

Ooooh I never thought of puppy pads. I've rinsed in the tub before when my dd was really bad but that's an excellent DC solution.

          ah ha

Puppy pads. I didn't think of those. Great idea! I did glove up. I should charge DCM for that. LOL
