Do You Think This Is Odd Behavior?

I have a little girl (2) that I just started caring for in my home, who is afraid of men or older boys. Everytime my husband or 16 year old son walk in the room, she runs to me and cries and won't leave my side. And God forbid they speak to her or look at her, she screams "I scared". Her parents said she is like that with every man. I have never encountered a toddler like this before. Has anyone else? Or do you think this is odd? Thanks!

Not really. About 1/3 of my kids act like that. It seems to be a common stage.. it's a little annoying though.

one of my dck was 14 months when she started and she did the same thing with my husband and son who was 13 at the time. It took her a good month to get used to them and about 2-3 months before she would even go to them. She is 3.5 now and she loves my husband more than me....

I had to ready this twice bc I thought maybe I had posted it and went crazy and forgot!!

I have a DCG 20mo who for the last month has been doing the exact same thing(-"scared" ). It started my 13 yr brother stoped in one day and has since happened with my 17yr brother, and two daycare dads she has only seen maybe once before. I talk to her Mom and while she had a very close relationship with her Father, grandpa and on uncle she also acts this way at home.

Last week she freaked out when a SA boy came in after school. This is a boy she has seen every school day since birth. It has even gotten so bad she screamed for an hour last Wed when a 4yr that only coem one day a week was here.

This is no ordinary cry either! Screaming, shaking, petrified!!!! she clings to me tighter than anything and WILL NOT LET GO.

She is truly terrified. Her Mother and I are at a complete loss on what to do.
