I have thought about this. I was pregnant but also had a miscarriage last month. Luckily for me, my doctor has evening appointments one night per week. Most of my appointments could be scheduled then. Other appointments that required US or things like glucose testing, etc. could only be done during the day. I planned to use my DH (who is also my official back up) but I was worried that his boss wouldn't understand and would eventually become annoyed at the arrangement. I could never take my dcks with me because I have 6 kids ages 10 months-4 years and they won't even sit still for a whole story these days.

I have an assistant who does backup. My husband is a very, very last resort. Hes perfectly capable and the parents all know him well but if I was a daycare mom, I would not be okay with someone's husband taking over all the time. Thats just me. If I am gone, I try and schedule it during nap time or at the very end of the day which are the easiest times for the assistant or my husband to take over. If you are pregnant, I think it might be for the best to have some sort of reliable backup that is NOT your husband. Its best to be prepared should an emergency happen with the baby during daycare hours.

Missani, so sorry for your loss

My provider's office is 2 hours away, so taking kids with me isn't feasible. Luckily they are open til 8, so I make my appts for 7:30 and it works out fine. I did have one time I had no other choice but to make a daytime appt, but I gave my families 4 weeks notice and everyone was fine.
