When Mom Is Sick...How Likely Is It DCG Will Be Sick Too

I had dcm drop off her daughter (18 months) and ran to my bathroom and threw uo...saying it was the 3rd time that morning. She texted later in the day to check on her, and said she had it coming out both ends. She came home from work early to nap, and then came to get dcg. She nurses her, so I know they are in pretty close contact. How likely is it that dcg will come down with it?

Normally, I would take my chances and forget it...but I have a very special weekend away with my husband that has been planned for months...so I am bleaching things like crazy, and washing my hands constantly...but I am really hesitant about having her here exposing me and my family...not to mention the other dckids.

I am a bit of a germaphobe when it comes to stomach bugs, so this is why it bothers me so much.

Do any of you ever not allow a kid to come to daycare when the parent at home is sick? Pretty sure that dont have any grounds...just.curious if anyone had been in a situation like this...

Most of the time it seems like the whole family will get it if one person has it. I still don't think there is anything you can do about it though as far as sending this little girl home. I would keep a thermometer handy and just keep watching her like a hawk so you can send her home asap if necessary.

I agree...keep you thermometer handy! I had a DC Mom who was sick with a bad cold...it took about 5 days to a week for DC Boy to get it and then another week for me to get it. There wasn't much I could do...DC Boy never got a fever and his runny nose was clear. Take PLENTY of vitamin C and keep up with your exercise...it's likely that you may be able to skirt by it. GOOD LUCK!
