Bumping for Tom to hopefully answer. The other threads don't answer the specific question. I'm curious because I have two daycare family get together's each year and have always written off all of the items - food, decorations, etc. as activity expenses. These are get togethers that are specifically for current or former daycare families.- Flag

I do.
I have a big summer party and a Christmas party for my daycare families; I buy all the things for the party in one trip and make sure there is nothing 'personal' on the receipt. In the summer I rent a big bounce house, in the winter I have Santa come to the party; I write it all off. One thing I also do, is I make sure that I have photos of Santa and the bounce house and the food (with the date) and the relay races, etc. as a little additional proof that it isn't a big family get together or something, kwim?
If it is a legitimate expense, don't be afraid to write it off. It's when it's not legitimate the you have to worry.- Flag
