Anyone ever work as a unit secretary in a Doctors office or Hospital? If so, what all did the job entail? Did you like it? How was the hourly pay? Thanks

I loved being a unit secretary at the local hospital. I put drs written orders into the cumputer for lab, xray, ot, pt, and I even put in medication orders. The charge nurse then oked everything I did. I also put papers in the chart and answered phones. I would make sure all the proper forms were signed for admissions and procedures. I also had to get other drs on the phone for our drs. We had 6 drs and up to 30 patients, we keep pretty busy. The only reason I quit was I had to be a nurse's aide along with it. Didn't care for that so much. I loved working in ER. In ER i would check the patients in and take vital signs. I also worked on the acute wing and ICU. Pay was fairly good for this area. I made more than the job I left it for which was a charge entry and medical coding job at the drs clinic. It's amazing I'm doing daycare now.- Flag
