WWYD - 5yr Old Told Me Mom Gave Him Tylenol

Ok so I have siblings that just arrived 5 and 3. 5 year old told me he had a fever this morning so mom gave he and his brother tylenol. So I'm assuming they both are running fevers.

Would you text mom and ask her about it or let it wear off and then call to pick up if it spikes again?

Ugh...what a tough situation. Mom must not have realized that it's hard to pull that kind of thing when they're old enough to tattle on her!!

I would honestly wait for it to wear off and fever to return before calling...it *might* not come back...it *might* not have been Tylenol...kid *might* be telling something he dreamed or something that happened a week ago or something...
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

That's kind of what I was thinking. What if it was allergy medicine or something and not tylenol. I asked him a couple of times about it though and he said it was for his fever and when I checked his temp it was 99 and he said she gave it to him right before leaving the house.

It'll just bother me if it's true because I was so upfront with all the families this weekend that we were under the weather with cold symptoms and some low grade fever. I even went so far as to go to Care Now last night to get myself and both girls checked to make sure we didn't have strep or the flu. It's just disappointing.

        I always tell parents,

You believe 50% of what your kid tells you goes on in Daycare, AND
I'll only believe 50% of what they tell me goes on at home.

I would wait and see if it comes back.

I would wait until it wore off too. But you can guarentee if they both developed a fever again my phone call to mom would be to inform her the tylenol she gave her kids before they came sick had worn off so it was time to come get them now. :P

I would do the same. I feel that giving tyl before you bring your kids to me to mask a fever is one of the worst things a parent can do. Nothing makes me feel more disrespected. I ALWAYS call tehm out on it. I have gone so far as to give termination warning to families that have (with proof) done it more than once.

My daycare boy told me his mom bit him this morning when I clearly saw he bit himself LOL
I'd wait til it wore off. Just makes it all easier.

That kind of stuff makes me mad. I think if it were me, I'd want to at least make the mom know that something was up. I would text and say "I just felt the boys' foreheads and they seem warm to me. Haven't taken temps, but did you notice anything this morning?" That way she has to wonder if the 5 yr old ratted her out, and she has to decide whether to lie & deny, or come clean. LOL. I'm mean like that!

another sure way to find out if they hav already had meds it to call right away and say " littel Johnny has a fever of 102 can I give him some tyl right now so we can get teh fever down before you get here?' if she gave it to him she will have to speak up and tell the truth!!

Funny that I comment on this post today. I sent four kids home today betewwn 10:30 and 11:00am. exactly four hours after they arrived and their tyl wore off. Each mother got a very serious....now you have exposed everyone here talk.

Love this one too! We use text, and I could say "Boys' foreheads feel warm. I'm going to give them a full dose of Tylenol, but wanted to check with you first." Ha Ha. She'd HAVE to 'fess up or risk her kids being double dosed. Brilliant!

The temperature went up a bit...99.5 but never got over that. I ended up running a fever myself at nap time and had to head to the doctor (had an ear infection) so my husband watched the kids and since I felt horrible I forgot to have him mention it to mom.
