    That Was A Crazy Tour!

I just had the craziest tour and feel so exhausted now. I'm sorry if this is confusing but I'll try to explain it...

It was a lady with a 21 month old son and she brought along her sister-in-law with her own 11 month old daughter. They wanted daycare for both the kids. The mom of the little boy is now the foster mother to the 11 month old girl, because the other mom that was present for the tour just lost custody of that baby! Okayyyy...

I guess the little girl had some head injuries that the mom blamed on her last daycare but CPS put the blame on the parents after checking out the daycare, and so they lost custody of their child during an investigation process... thus why the other lady is the foster parent for the baby now.

On top of all that weirdness, It was an AWFUL tour where they stayed WAY too long. I had to hint 3 times that I had to get lunch for my daycare kids, so they should go, but they were the type of moms who are scared to pick up their own kid and just leave. I HATE THAT! Then the boy had booger snots all over his face on top of that too! He was touching EVERYTHING and was really the most "un-cute" boy I've ever seen!

I ultimately had to say "ok - Its really time to say goodbye now... I have got to get them lunch". I never had to be that blunt but after 55 minutes of chaos, I thought I was going to go berserk.

So VERY weird about the situation... I wouldnt want to take someone in my daycare like that who has that kind of legal stuff going on... Way too much liability in that situation, right?

    Ugh... Glad that is over.

Well, if she lost custody because of injuries to her child that she falsely accused her provider of, you need to consider wether you'd want to be THAT provider.

I wouldn't. What about next time.....and you get blamed, and then investigated, and then if they innacurately find that it was your fault? Nope. I wouldn't go there.

I agree not a situation I would want to place myself into, sounds like way too much drama. Maybe you will have to say you already filled the space

I would be grateful that they told me that so I could run...as fast as I could in the other direction.

Same here, NO WAY would I touch that one. If they call back, be honest, say I'm sorry, but with the allegations you made against a previous provider, I have NO interest in possibly being put in that position. Best of luck to you.

Then she will probably not give that VERY IMPORTANT piece of information to the next unsuspecting provider that she interviews with. I would leave out the exact reason and just say it wasn't a good fit.

                    Yeah I ran

So I ended up calling them back yesterday and told them that I didnt have enough spaces for them (which was true) but also told her that the situation with the child abuse allegations does make me nervous and dont really want to get involved with the situation. I felt bad about saying no, but there were WAY too many red flags in that tour. I really appreciate them being honest though from the get-go.

I had asked the mom at the tour what happened at the other daycare to cause the injuries, and she said the baby was in a vibrating bouncer and it flipped to the side and she hit her head on the floor. She said 4 days later she got sick with flu symptoms & when she went to the doctor thats when they found she had bleeding in her head and had to have brain surgery and have multiple drainages.

I asked if it was a hard floor or did the bouncer fall off of something high up and she said no it was just on the floor on a rubber matted floor. That just seems a little fishy to me. Those rubber matted floors are usually very protective for little ones noggins. The other mom even seemed confused with the story and questioned her story... I really felt like she was lying. It was weird. She said the doctors were ruling it as either shaken baby syndrome or the baby was dropped... thus why she was taken away.

Anyway I'm just glad they were honest and glad that I could say "uh no".

Oh my. Well good for you for saying "no". That story they fed you about how the baby got hurt is very fishy. You could have been in a very sticky situation if the child did develop shaken baby and displayed symptoms in your care. Ick! You dodged a bullet!

Uh Uh, No No!!! You did the right thing, I just hope they tell the next provider too so she can make the same informed decision. It's such a blessing when you can see "issues" at the door!!!
