Don't know if it will help but my kids (toddlers) get loud at times too I just have to remind them. Depends on our activity at the time also how loud they get. We go over our rules every morning in a little song/ motion activity at circle time. We have positive reinforcement to avoid always saying no so much in hopes the kids don't pick it up as quick. Our rules song/activity is:

Walking feet (we walk in place)
Helping hands (we reach out and lend a hand kinda action)
Quiet voices (putting our index fingers to our lips shhh)
Listening ears (cup our hands behind our ears)
Looking eyes (they all stare at me to show they are paying attention)

I call them inside and outside voices. Inside voices are quiet because a baby might be resting. Outside voices are for outside and are LOUD, LOUD, LOUD!! My crew only needs a random reminder that they're inside vs outside.

I use the inside voice or outside voice too. If they get a bit crazy I will ask if we are inside or outside right now. Then they seem to quiet down pretty good.

I think that the "group of 7 boys" part might practically doom you on the quiet voice front...::

Anytime I see more than 2, maybe 3 boys in a group, they seem to play off each other's energy and get louder and louder.

I've had to use a loud "HEY!" and then a very quiet, stern, "Quiet voices, guys"
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I simply shut off the lights. Then when they look at me, I say shhhh.

For some reason my kids respond to using our "Library Voices".
