Potty Training Advice (My Own Child)

For all of you potty training experts out there: what is the most effective and quick way to potty train a girl? My daughter is 2 and shows plenty of signs to start potty training. I've been postponing it due to a new child starting and because she just got over getting really sick, but I do plan on starting in 2-4 weeks.

I've heard of many techniques, but I was thinking about going cold turkey with just panties or training panties (and no other clothes). Also, do they sell panties smaller than 2T? My daughter is very petite and still wears 12 to 18 month clothes (although can fit into her 4 month old sister's clothes if we wanted to ) Is this a bad idea? Also, should I do this over the weekend or with daycare kids present during the week? Both of my daycare kids are already potty trained, if that makes any difference.

I eventually just go cold turkey. I have the thick training pants for them. But, I have all tile floors.. so, it's a lot easier to clean than carpet.

I have potty trained hundreds of kids. I have never potty trained a single kid wearing pullups.

Yep, IMHO, cold turkey is the way to go. Like youretooloud, I have trained hundreds of kids and NONE of them wore pull-ups! Consistency and support is what she needs. Even if she has two steps backwards just keep focusing on the forward steps. Good luck!

But, here's a few tips. Kids get VERY upset if they pee in their shoes. I don't know why it bothers them.. but, it ruins the whole day. So, have her barefoot.

I like the baby Bjorn potty chairs. But, that's only because they are easy with less parts to clean.

I'm all for bribes. I bought Jelly Belly jelly beans on Monday to bribe my daycare girl to go potty... but, I ate them all by today. So, buy bribes you don't love.. otherwise you are caught short and have to find a backup bribe as you try to hide the jelly beans in your mouth.
