    2 Hours Of Daycare? Wwyd

Does anyone on here take kids for just a short amount of time and how do you charge then? I had a family call needing daycare for 3 kids (2 schoolagers; 1 pre k) for 2 hours a day 7 am- 9 am. Mom works at 730 and dad is done with work at 9. Technically unless I could find a family that didnt want to come until after this family left at 9 it would take up a space so what do other people do?

How much do you charge a family like this? A lady down the street from me does daycare 24 hrs a day (no thank you) and has something like 19 kids in her house everyday, all on rotating shifts or different hours so she is never over the max. To me that is crazy making. How does anyone manage this?

I just had 2 families drop (1 personal issues and 1 lost job) so I am certainly in need of the income but is this 2 hrs a day worth it? HELP!

Do you think you could get $20/day (or more...)? If so, that's $100/week; $400/month and might hold you over until you find a family who can come in after 9am. I would work with it if you can get at least $300-$400/month w/o interfering with current business.

I would do it if it did not offset my morning routine. If I could not take a f/t child becuase of it no I would not.

I wonder why they arent using the school progam before and after school care?

You can tell them you can help them out until a full time person comes. Let them know you will give them at least a 2 week notice if those spots can be filled.

Anything under 4 hours I charge $7 an hour, over the 4 hours is $40.

I have one family that wants to bring their child four days a week from 3:00-5:45, Monday through Thursday.

They will have a new addition to the family in August so I would then get that child. For two children under the 4 hours, I charge $10 an hour.

In the past I have never had any parents complain about it...I would charge AT least $20 a day, maybe $25?

I have one child that comes from 9 until almost noon. I charge that family $27 per day. This child is M-F. All of my normal policies apply.

I used to have 2 school agers that I had to walk to school about three blocks...They were here from 8 until 9am. I charged $10 day.

The absolute minimum to charge in my opinion is $30....with a "pay even if you're sick/absent" policy. Tell them that is your price if they bring all three or zero kids.

Let them know that you are looking for a full day full timer....who knows you might get lucky...one of my full timers arrives at 9:15 and is picked up by 3:30-4:00.

I have a half day charge of $17.50/day so I would charge that for each child. It's for 5 hours of care or less on one of two shifts I offer for half days.

I would at least charge $5.00 per hr. per child for those hrs.

Those hours would be considered drop in for me, and in my policy it states $25/day per child no matter how many hours they are here.
