    Daycare Items Made At Home...

    Hi all,

I am in a creative mood this week.....I have begun making things for this summer and for gifts for my kids...is there anything you make?

I have made towels for each child (they stay here): Each child has a colored assigned to them this summer.

So I have made: Hooded towels and bags for the park.

The totes for the park will have their snack and their water bottle in it.

The hooded towels are awesome! I will Post pics once I take them!

That's a really neat idea! I wish we had a park nearby to go to...

I am wanting to find nice little water bottles and then take each child's picture and tape the picture to the bottle sot hat everyone knows whose is whose. We'll be spending most of the day outside all summer so they need water available all the time.

I am also going to start knitting each of my dcks a blanket that will be their naptime cover...then they get to take it with them when they leave me.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I am not that crafty in regards to sewing and all.....but we do buy bulk plastic water bottles and plain sun hats (what they call "bucket hats") from Oriental Trading. Each child decorates their own water bottle and hat. The hats are worn outside in the summer months to shield them from the sun and the kids seem more apt to wear something they created themselves.

I LOVE this idea. How great is that. I think I will have to try something like this!

I love your hooded towel idea! I always use our beach towels for the kids when going to the pool but I would love to make each theri own hooded towel! Do u happen to have a pattern u could share? If u don't mind that is.

Every winter I crochet a hat and scarf set for each child. I allow them to pick out the yarn and I buy a couple skeins for each and get to work in the evenings. This actually started years ago when a DCM didn't have her young child wearing anything but a small coat all winter. I always buy gifts for the kids and fill a stocking for each of them and instead of buying a hat and scarf set for this boy I wanted to make it special since DCM didn't care much. So I made it for him and sewed his name into the set. He loved it so much he even wore it around my house the 1st week showing everyone his own name on the scarf . After that I just started making every kid a set every year and give it to them early on Thanksgiving. They each still get gift and stocking at Christmas but around here it's cold in November so they get the crochet set earlier.

For Easter I crochet bunnies, stuff a plastic egg inside and fill the egg with goodies. I fill an Easter basket and top them off with the homemade bunny. Kid just love it!

I do something for all the kids on every holiday but those 2 have been tradition for 5 years. I work with plastic canvas so I often make them a small little basket or trinket box etc to put goodies in like stickers stampers etc.

Oh I love the water bottle and bucket hat idea! I'm totally stealing it, ok? ::

Hooded towels are so easy! Let me see if I can find the link to the ones I made.

I knit a hat for the infant I used to have because she was always underdressed. And I'm thinking that I will just knit mittens, hats and slippers for use here for next Fall.

I'm also going to have the kids paint wooden Easter eggs for our hunt.

here is where I found my instructions!

Make a hooded bath towel for your little one! They are super easy to make and perfect for a birthday or baby shower present gift to give.

I hope you like...they are SOOOOO EASY...my very first sewing project was this!

I have also decided I am going to make fleece mittens, hats and scarfs for the winter. I can't seem to keep track of them all and if I just have a color assigned to each child, then I know which bag to put their stuff in. I have a ton of left over fleece from Bath towel projects ( I cut names or shapes out and sew them to the hooded bath towel.), so I can use the leftovers!
