    Question regarding interview

I know this is off subject but I have a question. For those of you have read my previous posts about getting an interview at a Childrens Hospital in my area....Do you think it would sound bad to tell them I prefer a certain shift?

They have a day shift and an afternoon shift available. I would prefer the day shift because I won't be getting off work until 11 from the afternoon shift, then having to do my daycare the following mornings....Also I would like to start Nursing classes in the evenings starting in August...Will it look bad me telling them at the interview that I plan on going to nursing school soon and that is why I would prefer the morning shift? I didn't know if this would show them I wouldn't be at this position for a long long time due to becoming an RN in 4 years or so...

I don't think it would be bad at all to let them know your preference. I'd be surprised if they didn't ask you during the interview!

My husband hires people at his job for 3 different shifts - and it's one of the first questions that he asks. They're always happy to place new hires into a shift that they want/are most comfortable with.

Certainly explaining that you're going to nursing school and will need a certain shift to accommodate classes would be understood by a hospital (one would hope!)

    Good luck on your interview!!!

I would give a preference but outside of saying you are also continuing your education, I wouldn't give every single dirty detail. You may come off as almost too ambitious and they might wonder if you could handle all that. But saying that you are continuing your education will only be a benefit to them because you are a more experienced and well rounded employee.

I'm sure that they will ask...but if they don't, no I don't think its a bad thing to meniton. I would not mention that it deals with daycare, but I would absolutely mention that you are gong back to school for your RN.

You won't sound too ambitious and I'm sure that they won't be concerned about your ability to handle it. What they will think is that they have an employee who is truly interested in health care and as your education proceeds you will aquire more and more skills that will make you a better employee. Good luck!
