    Snow Days And SA?

What do you charge for SA if school is canceled and how do you have that all arranged with the DCPs?

We're getting an April's Fools Day snow storm. Well, it actually already started. This is the first time I have had SA kids. The family is part time. Youngest here all day 2x/week, older 2 here for 45 mins before and after school on the same days. I called DCPs to find out what their plans were if school was canceled since we only have a contract for before and after school. Message I get back during dinner time is the SA are coming regardless as long as I have room.

So I need to call back and tell them that I do have room but it's going to be an extra charge for a full day. And I guess I need to figure out quick what that charge will be.

hey sorry I just seen no one responded and that makes me mad when it happens.

Sorry I don't have an answer for this, but I would just charge about 10 more than my usual daily for full time. So if I normaly say 25/day then i'd do either 5/hour they are here, to a max of 35 or 40 u kwim?

I would charge your daily rate that you do for their younger sibling.

I don't know what your usual rate is, but I charge $16 per day for B/A for SA's, and an additional $20 for snow days when they're with me all day. I also have the parents pack a lunch for them since I usually don't have meals planned for them since it comes up unexpectedly.

I charge my daily rate. I do inservice and snow days for most of my past clients with kids that are now SA. I have a full house today in fact. I had to run out at 6:30am to get something else for lunch because my menu wouldn't work today.

Thanks everyone. We ended up with only a couple of inches and not even a delay. Sometime during the day yesterday the storm changed because we were supposed to get 10".

But at least going forward they know that if school is canceled they owe me more than their super discounted military family SA rate.
