    How Would You Do This?

I currently only provide care for two DCK. I decided not to take on more when I discovered what a handful the DCB was going to be. As you may have seen in my other post, things have calmed down and I've pretty much got a firm grip on his behaviors.

They will be leaving me at the end of the summer to move on to pre-k and kindergarten. Should I take on one more for 1st shift, 2 for 2nd shift, or wait until they're gone to take on more and just post an ad a month or two in advance? I need to make sure my income is steady, but don't want to get overwhelmed. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance!

sorry, I don't have a great answer for you.

I always try to fill my spots ahead of time by always having my ads posted. Unfortunately you NEVER know how long it can be to add a new person, even if you have a waiting list. There are many times that by the time you get through your waiting list, you're still left with no one in the spot because they all have other care, moved, or whatever.

You can tell them a start date.

I always try to fill ahead also, I need the income so its not really a question.
Plus you can interview and get the best fit for you. Remember the ppl that come to you house wanting a spot in your daycare, your interviewing them just as much as they are inerviewing you. It took me awhile to figure that out, when I first started out I always took in whatever family that showed up at my door thinking I was lucky to get an income, ohhhh how Ive learned .
