Years in Business as a Home Daycare Provider

I am curious as the the number of years each of you have worked, privately, as a Home Daycare Provider, as a business, for your income.

I am attempting to include a poll in this thread, we shall see how it goes.

* I do not mean Childcare Experience, Center Experience or Years caring for family/friends/neighbors/your own children. Please feel free to post in a reply, that would be very interesting as well.

Less than one year as a home daycare provider. More than 10 at a center before that and about 10 years in the non-childcare world (some of them overlapped). I started my home daycare in August 0f 2010.

I voted 5-6

I started with my first family 5.5 years ago. but didn't become licenced until 3 years ago. so i voted 5-6. I love it but the coming and going of children latley really has got to me in the last year. i have only had one constant child in the last year.

i met a woman at a training a few months ago who has been providing care in her home for 46 years. she now has her first clients' grandchild. can you believe that

I had a home daycare for four years, taught in a center as a lead teacher for two and then back to home daycare for the last four years.

I read somewhere that 2 years is average b/c of burn out.

17 years this year. In my home. Same home I'm in now. And it's funny to remember back to 1994 and how different I did things. Not much of a contract, not much of a set of "policies" - actually none now that I think about it. I didn't have paid days off for me, and they did not pay if they were not here. I got taken advantage of. Boy, have things changed in that time!!
