Does Anyone Have This - Little Tykes Computer Table?

I found this posted on CL here for $250. I can not believe the original price. Why are these products so expensive?!?!?!

The only reason that I would even consider this is I have computer loving kids and I don't want them on my nice Mac. I have an old pc tower and monitor that just got a tune up in expectation to be traded in for a laptop so I can run MMK. But this would be even cheaper.

They have this set at our local library. I must say, my DC boys LUV IT and always scoot their little bottoms on that bench next to the other kids in Play Group. I'm with ya though...WHY OH WHY does it have to be so expensive??? It's not like it comes with the computer and monitor or anything. It's nice and sturdy, but still.....

Is it huge? It looks huge. I'm not sure I have the room for it really.

Hmmmmm...I wouldn't say it's HUGE but I could see it taking up some room. I'd say only two kids can fit on the bench and then the sides of the computer unit extend a little bit beyond the bench on both sides. That being said, do you think you could work out two kids at a time? Have you seen any used sets anywhere? Maybe a consignment shop?

I found a used one on CL, but now I see it's without the bench. I have two little tykes chairs that might work side by side. I try to enforce 1 at a time at the Mac because it'd be a costly piece of equipment to replace if someone got too pushy and broke it.

I would definitely buy it used. Actually most of my Little Tykes stuff is used...it's just so expensive. Plus I bleach the HECK out of everything so aside from scratches here and there I can get it looking as good as new!!!

You can run mmk on a mac, you just have to buy windows 7 and install it!
I just did this in the summer but I had a lot of help from Apple giving me step by step directions on how to do it, the only draw back is when you switch back and forth from mac to windows you need to shut your computer down but for me it's no biggie

We have it. It was donated to us by IBM, along with the computer and the software . Its a great product...it the cabinet where you keep the cpu locks (although ours doesnt because I had a dcg take the keys home and the parent never found them, so we cant lock it ) The bench seats up to 3 and its really durable and sturdy.

The only thing that I dont like about it is we have a flat screen monitor and it lies flush against the protector screen on the desk. So the slightest movement causes the monitor to bump against the screen and hit the power button, causing to monitor to turn off. There's no way to remedy this except by placing something between the two, which may damage the flat screen.

I don't let the kids use a computer or any video games/movies/tv at all. I would love to introduce some of these things (computer) but am unsure about parents reactions. Do your parents seem to care?

Can you submit claims electronically doing this? I have to use the online version. All I need is for Internet Explorer to work. I was told by both Apple and my food program person that it won't work doing it this way.

My father is an IBM guy! Don't you just love how generous they used to be?

Thanks for the info. We measured every spot in the house that we thought it could fit and it's just not going to work in any public area the dcks are allowed.

My parents don't mind computer games within reason. PBS or Disney games, 15-20 mins total per day. I don't do any tv for dcks either unless it's a special event. My non napping daughter gets to watch one show during nap time in my room and my oldest SA daughter who is autistic gets to watch one show when she gets home if she has a good report. The dcks always want to join her but too bad.

We operate in a impoverished urban area, so many of parents appreciate the fact that their 3 and 4 yo's get exposure to a computer and how to use it, being that they otherwise probably wouldn't until they reached elementary age.

I limit everyone's computer use to 8 minutes at a time. That doesnt sound like much, but it's plenty of time for them to choose an activity and play it. After everyone has had a turn, those who want to may have a second turn...but after that, it goes off and doesn't come back on til the next day. One or two days a week, I leave it off.

Just throwing this out there--try Starfall.com, too. It's educational and a lot of fun.

Yes! My DD loves that site! There are a couple more sites my DD's elementary school uses to teach math and science.
