Baby Has Rash On Stomach - What To Do?

The 4mo has a stomach/chest rash, which I just noticed during diaper changing. I didn't notice it this morning, so I believe that it has developed since drop off. There's no fever. Is that worth a call to Mom, at least for a heads up?

is it just really really tiny red spots?

The last 2 nights in a row, as soon as I get in the shower (before soaps) i break out in a super itchy chest/tummy rash. Then 10 minutes out of the shower it goes away. but I'm still itchy even though it's not there.

Yes, tiny red spots, but all over the chest and stomach.

did the baby have a high fever in the past few days? a few weeks ago my daughter got roseola, fever for a couple days followed by a couple days of a rash of tiny red dots very slightly raised that started on her tummy and moved up to her head. mostly harmless, but slightly scary if you don't know what it is

i wonder, was this baby ill when everyone was getting sick a few months ago? maybe this is still the same?

what is the chances that lots of people are getting same symptoms at same times in completely different states/provinces/countries?

hubby got the rash last week.

Could be, I suppose, but the baby hasn't been ill that I know of since they've been in my care.

Hey, you 30 other people who have read this, can NO one give their opinion as to whether or not I should let Mom know?

I think if she's not acting fussy to the point you don't know what to do, I'd just advise mom baby has a rash, but she's fine, maybe try book an appointment for this afternoon, or something with doc.

If she's fussy i'd say come get now.

LOL!!:: I would call mom and atleast let her know. She may tell you she was aware of it and switched laundry soap or used a new lotion....I'd definitely let her know either way. Might be gone by pick up.

Id call too and let her know. My ds has eczema and when hed eat something off or get hotter then usual it would flare up on his stomach, neck, legs, just about anywhere. Dck could just be having some reaction. If its followed by a fever or the bumps worsen Id suggest mom come get the kid and haul off to the doctor.

If it is something mild, I would just point it out at pick up. If it is a major rash and seems to be growing I would call.

I agree with the other posters about informing parent of the situation. If it doesn't get worse, I might wait until pick up time. If you know the parents well enough to know if they would prefer to know right away (doesn't bother them to be called at work for minor things) then I would go ahead and call.

For things like this, does anyone keep a written record or "so and so had this today on her chest and stomach. informed DCM at such and such time. She was okay with it" and keep it in her file? Is it even necessary? I know my friend was livid when her provider didn't tell her about bumps and bruises and found out about them herself after they got home. She would ask the next day and the provider told her then because she forgot, but my friend wanted to know right away.

I prefer to mention as soon as possible. I send a text, but I probably won't phone for little tiny things. But I would write it down in my book for personal reference as to date, occurance etc, becasue something things slip your mind. I wouldn't want to forget to tell a parent something, and I wouldn't want to forget that child A has been coughing on this day, fevers on this day, and rash on this day, they are all 2 weeks apart, etc etc etc. sometimes you lose track of time, and then you don't put the pieces together.
