    Getting A Change Of Clothes

Is like pulling teeth here yesterday I had two kids who both wet through diapers yesterday no change of clothes I had to scramble to find things to put on them. Today I put a note on the door that if they could bring a change of clothes it would be appreciated only one of my six families does this didn't know it would be so hard

I would try at least once more--maybe calling/texting the parents in the evening to remind them?

Then I would lay in a supply of plain T-shirts and plain sweatpants with DAYCARE scrawled across them, and send the kids home in opposite-gendered clothing with another reminder. Maybe that would get the point across?
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

Would put them in sweats til about pickup. Then let them in a dipe to go home. If parent says don't you have anything to put them in? We aren't going straight home," I'm sorry you haven't brought me any spares". Then just stand there.

        Ooo that's a better idea!

Of course, with some parents you'll get, "Well, can we borrow some of [your own child's] clothes?"

Smile and say that you would prefer not to. Your child doesn't have anything that you feel comfortable lending out.

"I'm sorry, but no. I never get them back no matter how many promises I get. I am sure the car is warm." Smile sweetly and just stand there....

              What I do is this:

I always have some spare clothes...when children are withdrawn from the center, they rarely take their belongings with them, plus some parents donate their children's outgrown clothes to the center...so I have a big plastic tote full of extra's.

When I have been asking for spare outfits repeatedly and not received them, and the child needs to change... I put the ugliest, mismatched outfit on them I can find...plus I write "Property of (Name of Center)" across the front in big black letters. Sometimes, if Im running low on spares (cuz I never get them back) I have had to put opposite gender clothes on a kid...

I just smile sweetly and say, "Oh, Im sorry, thats all I had and I didnt want to leave him in wet clothes or call you at work."

I usually get several extra outfits after that

I have put lavender stretch pants on boys so we get them back at our center an there is a black marker across the butt saying our name. also on extra underwear. This is usually put on a child whose parents are NEVER on task, regarding extra clothing, LOL.

We ask that all parents bring a change of clothes and then we have them change them each season. ( i need to do this for my class now) We have extras but not much. ONE dad had a fit his son had on girls underwear one day but you know what we didn't have extra set for him. And he insisted on underwear not a pull up. We also ask them keep a set of clothing in their bag that they bring each day and this family didnn't. Their child is potty trained you know.

If you are going to put your childcare name on the clothes make sure you write it like "STOLEN from (your child care name)"

Betcha they return them immediately the next day.......::

I have all daycare boys and the only clothes that I have that would remotely fit any of these boys is my youngest daughter's clothes. Pink socks look SO wrong on a little boy....I've never had a problem with extra clothes.

I have a little boy that has worn pink snowpants so much that he thinks they're his and wants to take them home. ol It just happens to be the only pair of extras that fit him. Mom brings splash pants but often washes them and skips a day returning them.

Ah! These are all great ideas! You may want to try writing your daycare's name really big on the spare clothing with neon fabric paint. I'm thinking that's a good way to ensure you get the clothes back.

All my dck's have individual large ziploc bags with their extra clothes in. I take the bags out about once every two months and make them look through them (at the door at pick up time) and take out what is too small etc. Then I leave the bag there for them to refil the next am. Never had anyone forget but I do have extra garage sale (intentionally ugly stained stuff) to wear home if someone has more issues than clothes.

Amazing idea! I am going to stock up on sweats and t-shirts and write "DAYCARE" across them. If they don't get returned by the end of the week (clean!), there will be a $5.00 charge applied to their account!

Yay!:: I think I just solved that problem! ::
