    Diaper Rash

I have a DCB 2.5y old that I asked about Diareah last week who was on antibotics and was off of them but started Diareah. Okay, he had it Friday still but today it's seems better consisitancy wise but I'm still changing him every hour. (He does normally go a a few times a day but only once maybe twice here). He has a REALLY bad diaper rash and did get prescription ointment for.

It's not much BM when he does do it so is here possibly holding it in cause it hurts so just going a little at a time? I've changed him three times between 9:30 and 12:00.

My other question is this kid is in pain. He's kicking me very hard during diaper changing and moving all over like a fish out of water. He's already kicked me in the chin and really hard on my wrist.

Should he not be here until he can get changed without all this ordeal? I know he's in pain and feel really bad for him but I don't need a black eye either. He is acting fine otherwise though, so not sure.

Poor guy. Two weeks ago, I had a boy with a horrible diaper rash. Like a burn. (I asked about it here) I thought it was just the diaper, but it turned out that he had E-coli. He just came back today.

They left me with A mix of

    Zinc Oxide
    Hydrocortisone creme
Burrows solution http://www.google.com/products/catal...d=0CDEQ8wIwAg# (I had to look that up too)

It seems to work, but he's had this rash for over two weeks now.

And, yes... I'd probably send him home. Even if he's not pooping a lot at once, it seems like he's still sick. This isn't fair to him or you.

Are you using baby wipes to clean his bottom? That would really burn, use damp paper towels or washcloths instead. (if you're not already)
Poor guy, hope he clears up soon...without any bruises on your part!

Well, I emailed mom about the diaper changes and she's making an appointment for the doctor right now. Hopefully we'll get it figured out then.

I was using wipes since that's all I have and they didn't tell me differently. I will use some washcloths instead today after nap. I asked mom to bring mom some tormorrow since I dought I'll have enough if I'm changing him every hour.

        Thanks for the help.

I do a warm washcloth compress technique

I get about six or seven warm washcloths. I make sure they are all evenly warm and completely unfolded. I have them saturated with warm water.

Put a towel double folded under him.

Take off diaper and lay the warm wash cloths all over his business department and bum.

Let it sit there for a little bit to soak. Two to three minutes.

Then DAB off not rub off anything on there.... poop or cream.

Then DAB dry off the area. NO RUBBING. The dabbing will redirect his brain to pay attention to your rhythm of dabbing. He will be destracted enough with the dabbing that you will have time to completely get everything off.

          Then apply cream.

The warm moist compresses will feel soothing to him. He just needs to relax and let them work.

I don't ever use baby wipes on a rash. Just warm wash cloths.... then pop washcloths and underneath in washer and wash.

Poor baby. It sounds like he's just a mess. I always use wet baby faceclothes when they have bad rashes too. I had a little one with a spot that was bleeding yesterday the first time I changed her. Mom forgot to tell me she had a rash.
