    Television....

I will happily turn on the tv during those bad days. Last month the kids were sick for weeks with one virus after another. So, we watched a lot of tv during those days.

Today, one of the boys walked in, and he's clearly sad. Mom has been sick with this pregnancy, and she's going to stay in the hospital for a few days for IV fluids (that's what dad says)

So, he's slightly fragile today. (he's 20 months) He keeps throwing himself against my legs and crying "TV!! TV!!".."MICKEY CLUBHOUSE!! BUBBLE GUPPIES"

He's breaking my heart. I'm super tempted to let him watch Bubble Guppies, but, sometimes it's all downhill for us as soon as I turn on the tv.... they watch one show, then want the next one, and the next.

Would you let the whole group watch tv to make one child happy?

*Also, I could turn on a DVD, which is only 30 minutes long, and there's no transition into another show.

I would let them watch. There has been a lot of sickness here this winter, and some days the kids just don't feel well, or the snot is unberarable to keep up with and so quiet time is just what is needed. A little tv never hurt anyone.

I have movie days when the kids or myself aren't feeling the greatest. Rest time is needed sometimes, and as long as the tv or videos are age appropriate I see no reason why not.

Both my kids are sick today and ironically my one family is home sick as well, so there's no daycare today. My kids spent the morning watching Wonder Pets on Netflix and are now playing the Wii a little bit. It's too gross outside to go play anyway.

Yeah, I probably would let them watch, too. And give him lots of extra snuggles.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

If they ask for a movie, I don't mind putting it on. They NEVER sit and watch a movie anyways, they always take off to play.

Usually the babies are napping, and I don't mind my 2 db watching or playing quietly while babes are asleep, less likely they will wake them up

Maybe I am mean.. when they ask for tv, I use it like the carrot over the donkies head...

I will tell them if I have great behavior from everyone we will get to watch one TV show, so help each other to be a SUPER student today....

I would totally let the kid watch his little show. Poor little guy!

We watch it a little bit. I don't mind. Usually while I'm preparing lunch, and sometimes at getting ready to go home time.

                  I am adding to this....

My tv/movies rule is the same as with EVERYTHING.

Everything must be cleaned up first before I will put on a movie. If they want to play while the movies on , I let them take out 1 or 2 toys each, that's all. When something catches their attention on the tv, they stop playing to watch it, and then go back to playing.

They watched some tv... but, we are waiting for Bubble Guppies to come on.

I should look at some kind of tv guide to see when it comes on.

I was just thinking to myself that I might turn on the TV today after the kids get up from nap. No one is feeling well and 2 crashed early. They are cranky and fighting and it's SNOWING for goodness sake. My DS is watching the Wiggles in my room so I can keep him quiet for the others to get a good rest in. It was that or monster trucks crashing into block towers

I have the tv on all day. I think its more as a noise thing for them. Do they watch it, well out of a whole day, maybe they will sit for 15 min. max. Most of the time they are too busy playing and doing things then to watch tv.

I've done that. But, I have two kids who would watch ANYTHING all day long. I think they'd actually watch the news if that's what I turned on.

In my daycare room, I have a tv and dvd player. No satellite box hooked up. This way, they aren't seeing commercials, ads for other shows, and when its over -- its over. No "Dora coming up next!" or "Stay tuned for Word World!" Etc.

Today is a rainy, cold day here AND on Mondays everyone is always more tired and cranky from the exciting weekend. The kids cleaned up about 30 minutes early and I put on a dvd for them while I prepped lunch.

I am very regimented and schedule driven BUT.... some days the kids show me who's REALLY the boss, LOL!!! Yes, there have been those days where they just haven't wanted to do ANYTHING but sit on the couch (under my armpit) and watch TV. Doesn't happen often, but some days they just need that ya know???
