    Policies

    I'm started to draft up some daycare policies. Here is a list of the categories I have. Can you think of any main topics that am I missing?

    Deposits
    Payments
    Receipts
    Supplies (what I ask the parents to provide)
    Hours of Operation
    Drop Off's and Pickups
    Late Pickup Fees
    Visits
    Meals and Snacks
    Cleaning/Hygeine
    Sick Child
    Vacations (mine and theirs)
    Personal/Sick Days (mine)
    Holidays Closed
    Medications
    Termination of Care

        I have house rules for kids and parents! Discipline, revisions, weather/emergency closing, extended leave (ex maternity)
        Field trips / transportation
        Who is your back up provider

            I also have these topics....

            - Cleanliness (hand-washing, how I clean, my expectations from them, etc.)
            - Medical Emergencies (transport, which hospital, etc.)
            - Daily Schedule (Full Timers & Before/After School)
            - Potty Training
            - Substitute Care
            - Open Door Policy
            - Pick Up Policy
            - Property Damage

              Make sure you put in your contract: Waiver of one thing in the contract does not constitute waiver of entire contract. In other words if you wave one policy your not waiving the whole contract. Very important!

                  Good point! I use this....

                  "We reserve the right to enforce these policies. Lack of enforcement of a certain policy does not indicate that the policy (or this contract) is no longer in affect."

                    Let us know what you have in it after all your revisions to see what else we can think of! If you have pets you should have a section on them as well. I have three cats and cannot think of exactly what to say besides they're part of the family and if they have allergies let me know. LOL

                    If your policies become long, I recommend creating an index page where it lists the topics and the page it's on to shorten reference time. I might do this since I'm at 10 pages and counting. Better get all the bases covered than not!
