Anyone Ever Had A Problem With Daycare Child Acting Up When New Daycare Children Join

I have a dcg 4 years old who has been with me since she was 11 months old. Also a little dcb 3.5 years old who has also been with me since 11 months old.

Both have been a little more difficult and out of character for the past 2 days.

Today dcg 4 has been unbelievably just plain nasty and defiant. She has never in over 3 years been a problem. Always loving, sweet and just a very good little girl.

I have been wondering today where my little sweetheart has gone and who the heck is this little girl who has replaced her.

dcb 3.5 has still been very good here but not so great at home and has been having tantrums for mommy the past 2 nights.

It just dawned on me tonight that I started on Monday with 2 new dcks, dcb 11 months and dcb 2.5

I have never had this happen before. I am wondering if the 2 new children may be the problem for their changes. Both of these new little boys are going to be a great fit, I know it! The dcb 11 months is having separation anxiety so has been crying a lot but it is nothing that I did not go through before. I know that this is only going to last a week or so and then it will be fine.

What do you all think? Both these kids are very attached to me and love me so much as I do them. Both are amazing children and love to do things to please like picking up and putting away toys, helping their friends etc.

sounds like a case of jealousy. I think they just need some time to adjust to them, its funny how we always talk about us having a good feeling about the children but we really never talk about the children we have here about how they would feel when we introduce a new playmate.

I don't think it's surprising, probably just need to give it time

I have a little boy in my care who does this every time a new child starts (he has been with me for 2 years). He begins throwing ridiculous tantrums and refuses to do anything or follow routine and does everything he can for attention. I just make sure I keep things as routine as possible and give him lots of cuddles and reassurance when he isn't acting up, I also try to plan lots of activities, etc. to keep them all distracted. He eventually gets over it--it usually takes a couple of weeks, but I think his is extreme behaviour (he has other issues too), hopefully your dcks get over it sooner. Good luck, it is very frustrating!

I'm going through today with one of my dcb's, a dcg just started today and he has been all over her bugging her, getting in her face, taking toys from her, and when she tells him to stop he just keeps doing it, he has been in time out quite a few times today and its not even lunch time yet .
