I have a 2.5 yo DCG who still occasionally needs a half hour morning nap! Not every day, but sometimes I see how cranky/whiny she gets and she's rubbing her eyes, so she get one! And she still naps the full 2 hours at afternoon nap. Her parents are well aware and haven't said a thing about it! The kid needs to sleep.

Asking a provider to take away naps from an infant is just plain crazy. Like you said, she's going to sleep regardless or whether it's in a crib or on the floor!

As much as I like a little downtime from infants/toddlers I won't fight their not sleeping or their need for a nap. If they are giving cues that they need a nap, they get a nap. If they don't need a nap then they stay up. It's a pain in the butt when their schedule doesn't work with what I want but it's part of caring for that age children.

I WOULD NOT feed them pudding though at8 mo. I don't even do pudding at all becase it's unnecessary empty calories.
From the literature I've read, I understood that babies were mature enough somewhere in between 8-10 months old to put them on a nap schedule. It's certainly proven true for the infants I've cared for so far.

My personal opinion, it's not that she wasn't needing a nap at home, she was on a freaking sugar high from the pudding! And if a parent brought it here I would thank them for my afternoon snack!
