    It’s Raining Lemons

My father in law brought me a huge bag of lemons that he picked from his tree. I am not much of a baker or a cook and have no clue what I can do with them. Can someone suggest something to do with all of these lemons. I would hate to see them go to the trash....................

    thanks...

I know this is totally random, and my not be at all the kind of suggestion you were looking for, BUT....

I have used potatoes to play games with my daycare kids...I would think you could do some of the same games with yours. I will describe some of our games, and use lemons instead of potatoes! Of course it depends on the age of your kids too, but maybe these will work.

    Lemon Roll
Divide children into groups of however many you want, or if there are enough lemons, give each child one lemon.
Have them get down on all fours and push the lemon across the room with their nose. It's not necessarily a race, unless you want it to be!
    My dcks LOVE this game...

    Lemon Pass
Have the kids line up back to front. Give them silly ways to pass one lemon (Ex. between your legs, over your head, etc)
My dcks love this one too...

You could always play Hot Lemon instead of Hot Potato...And if you weren't against having busted lemons, maybe play Lemon Toss.

Hope these help a little...I try to do games like this as often as possible!!

I love to slice up lemons & put them in water glasses, it encourages me to drink more water throughout the day. And it tastes yummy (I think!).

There are a ton of easy recipes you can make with lemon. . . I know you said you were not much of a cook but lemon bars are very simple & would not take much time. Also, yummy. . . maybe a project of making those with the DCK would be fun (I often bake/stir things up with my DCKs)

Yummy that sounds good and fun. We cook as a class 2 times a week! The kids love it thanks for the idea. I'll look it up.

Send them to my DH; he eats them. :: Yes, plain lemons, no sugar. Slices them up and eats them. He's weird!

Other than that, lemonade is probably the easiest. You could also juice 'em all and freeze a bunch of the juice for making lemonade in the summer.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

                Yuck really?? Lol that's funny
I'm not a fan of lemonade just too much sugar to get the kids to drink it. I am looking up lemon bars and lemon loaf. Someone said lemon pound cake? Not sure if these things are hard to make, but I guess I have to learn at some point. I just don't really care much for sweets or desserts.

I picked about 200 lemons off of my tree before a freeze. I gave some away, then cut and juiced the rest. Then, poured them into ice cube trays and froze em... then I put them in baggies. This way, I'll have lemon juice for my tea all summer.

I still have about 75 more lemons to pick though... and, honestly, I don't feel like juicing any more.

lemon bars are easy, lemon pound cake should be pretty easy. Lemon meringue pie isn't really *that* hard, honestly. Lemon curd is easy and SO YUMMY...mmm....lemon curd...

offer them to the parents at pick up. I love fresh cut lemon in water. Hot water with lemon is good too.

I like the idea about the games and also offering them to parents. We never buy lemons here, but when I opened this post I thought it was about rainy weather. LOL

take out the seeds and plant them. Each kid can have a lemon tree (they grow indoors too!)
