I am newly licensed and have an awful worry about an emergency in my care and how to handle it! So I was wondering what everyone does if you need to send a kid in an ambulance? Being the daycare provider you can't obviously go due to all of the other children under your care, so do you send the child by themself? Also what if it is your OWN child while you are doing daycare! Should I have someone I can count on for these instances because I don't and I don't know what I would do!! Hopefully it will never happen, but I want to be ready and prepared in case it ever does! What do you guys do?
In case of emergency!

If it is emergency situation and I have to call 911,then I will send child alone, and offcourse call the parents. If my own child,I will call my friend, she stays here for me sometimes. It is good to have somebody that you can count on,friend or relative,so you do not have to wait for all parents to get here.
Just few weeks ago,my two girls got in a car accident and were taking to ER.
I had 7 kids here and could not leave the house, I called my friend, she was out and could not get here fast,it was close to pick up time and first mom offered to stay with kids until my friend got here.
I just hope nothing like this will happen again.- Flag

In my manual I state that first I will call 911 and then immediately after I'd notify the parents. I'll send the child in the ambulance alone and a parent or someone authorized by the parent would meet the child at the hospital.- Flag

My county requires I have someone I can call to come to the house in case of emergency. I haven't had any major issues yet. I did have to call my neighbor a few weeks ago, as my husband was not home, my dad lives 1.5 hours away. The sewer system started backing up into the basement due to a very heavy rain. I only had my son and one other boy, who my neighbor happened to know. She came and sat with the boys while I baled out the basement, and got things under control.Give a little love to a child, and you get a great deal back.- Flag
