I have a 15 month old who is just beginning to really walk more than a step or two. This morning my 5 older kids all laid on the floor at one end of the room clapping and chanting "go baby go, go baby go!" while the LO was standing at the other and stepping toward them. It was awfully cute .
She's really and truly 2 now. After her birthday this weekend, she came in with a new sentence. I put her in her chair at the table and opened the fridge to start lunch. Without even seeing what was in there, she said, (for the first time--she's usually a great eater), "That's yucky. I don't like it." I knew the 2's would be tough, but I didn't think it would all change overnight. ::
I had one amazing day today. There were no tears, there was no arguing, there was NOTHING. Easy meals (all cleaned plates/seconds), everyone cleaned up, everyone fell asleep during the book at nap, etc. It was like the twilight zone and I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!!!
DD: "My dad lost his job." <--true, DH lost his second job last night.
DCB: "Why did he do that?"
DD: "Well, he didn't mean to!"
DCB: "Oh. Well, I can sing my ABC's! A, B, C, D...."
Me  thinking "You are the most non sequitor child...."
One of our other teachers was leaving the room for the morning and DCG(4 1/2) hugged her and said "I love you! I love you more than cheesecake, and that's really good." It was adorable.
I was sitting in the playroom with the kids when my husband stuck his head in to say he was going to take a nap. I glanced around and said "Night night." I didn't even realize what I had said until he turned back around and said, "Night night?"

hahahahahaha! I was pouring milk at lunch and dh was home (he comes home for lunch often) and all of the kids said please & thank you....and not my dh. Without even thinking about it I said "It's polite to say please and thank you. Try to remember that for next time." ::

DCG I have had since birth just finished her first day of Kindy today. She got dropped off after school and sat down with her younger daycare friends and started chatting.
When one little guy (same age but not in Kindy this year) started telling her what he thought about a certain subject my Kindy DCG says "Why are you still thinking about stuff, school is over for today."
Later DCB says to same DCG, "Did you learn anything in school today?"
DCG says with a sigh, "No, they are making me come back again tomorrow."
Since my 2 year olds learned to toddle, I've had the crying quilt. The quilt has somehow migrated to the housekeeping center, but the spot is still kept empty. I'm down to one 2 year old now, and when she throws a fit or is having a bad time, I tell her to go sit until she feels better, and she will haul herself to that spot. It's the one thing she never argues about.
This morning, she was having a rough spell, sassy, whiny, just sort of a stinker. I had been running through the standard no, don't, stop, etc. Finally, she let out a huge sigh and said, "I'm gonna sit." She stood up and took herself to the corner and plopped down. She sat there a couple of minutes, then got up and went back to playing. I think she gave herself an attitude adjustment, because we had a splendid time the rest of the day.
