Field Trips: Where to go and what to do

Didn't want to hijack another posters thread so I'll ask my question here. A recent post mentioned that Michael's craft store hosted a Dr Suess event today where the kids made free bookmarks and such.

We have a Michael's less than a mile from here and I would have loved to do that do this had I only known about it! I have 2 kids out this week (without proper notice so I didn't have time to plan). Since I can't fit everyone in my vehicle when all my dcks are here, this week is the perfect time for us to go somewhere...but where? I don't know how to find things on such short notice. Yesterday we drove to a new park and tomorrow we are going to the library for storytime.

Does anyone know of a website (or other resource) where you can put in your zipcode and it will give you a list of kid-friendly things to do in your area for the week/month/season? I usually use the local town paper but am always disappointed when I hear about an event that I missed.

I don't know of anything like that but I'd love one. I hope someone here has seen a site like that.

In a quick search I found this site. It's geared towards parents and larger areas but maybe the have what you are looking for.

Printables, coloring pages, recipes, crafts, and more from your child’s favorite Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. shows.
