How Long Are You Outdoors Each Day?

The weather has been really nice recently so we've been out usually 1.5 - 2 hrs in the morning and then in the afternoon before pick up.

I'm just wondering how long all of you are outdoors during the day when the weather is nicer.

Most mornings 1 hour or so and from 3:30 till pick up in the afternoon. Didn't get out yesterday or this morning, due to rain the last two days. Hoping it is dry enough this afternoon! I have 3 littles, two can't walk yet, so we need dry ground.

We try to get out for at least 1 hour in the morning, and for 1.5-2 hours in the afternoon before pick up.

all day, if we can!!! we bring all the toys out there with us! we only come in for potty breaks , to prepare lunch , and nap. most days we take a picnic outside with us. i would much rather be outside, then stuck in here all day. less mess and less cleaning!!!!!

of course, in the winter, (its rough here) its only about 1/2 hour at a time, once in the morning, and once when the SA get home.

oh, what i wouldnt give for winter to be over right now!!!!

I think this is where we're heading too! We have such a small outdoor area but they've really been loving it out there. Yesterday we took out the playdoh and little people and today the little people, cars and markers/crayons and they had a blast. They spent the morning digging in the garden, drawing, practicing their letters, playing with the little people and cars and playing tag and doctor . I LOVE being outdoors and am so excited the weather is getting nicer!

depending on the activity when it is warm out we will conduct most of our class outside.

when it is cold for us thats anything below 55, I brake it up 30-45 min in the mid morning before lunch and then again after nap same amount of time.

I have great set up so if there are some kids that want to be inside they can play in the DCR and others can play in the sandbox area outside and I can still see everyone..

however, i do have some families who dress their kids like its 85 everyday and that just puts a damper on our whole day..............

It truly depends on the weather. It has been quite rainy lately so not a lot. But when we have nice weather we will normally play outdoors for an hour in the morning & another hour or so in the mid-afternoon (after naptime). In the winter here it is not uncommon for the temps to be below freezing so we don';t go outdoors as much then. Anytime it is above freezing though I am game to take everyone outdoors to run around & get some exercise.

We only get out about an hour a day. The snow is so high the 2 yo get stuck and cry constantly. I also have 2 infants who eat very often and need lots of care. I hope to buy a deck in the spring which will allow us to get to the fenced in backyard. Right now we have to walk around the house and the kids cant do it and the doors wont open through the high snow.

I too have young children to watch so its hard to get out. Right now my husband is laid off so he stays in if the babies are sleeping so I can take the two walkers for a small walk. but other then that, right now we go out maybe once a week for a short walk. Next month i'm getting a newborn so it'll be even more of a struggle to get out :-( Its still in the 40s here in MO.

When the weather is warmer we go out for an hour in the morning and then about 2-2.5 hours in the afternoon. In the winter we only go out for about 20-30 minutes total a day...and that's only if everyone has proper attire.

In the spring and fall when there is not excessive heat or cold, I will typically spend 2-3 hours morning and from 3pm - pickup outside in the afternoon.

In the summer, I try to get out as early as possible before it gets too hot so we are usually outside from drop off until 10am.

Right now, with the stiff 40 feet of snow, 30min-1 hour or so every afternoon, however long the kids last until they start complaining, and its usually the 4 yr olds who start complaining and the 2 year old who dont want to go in, Today its getting into the 30's, so we should be out for an hour, and it will just keep getting longer and longer, as the days get nicer, I even require all of my kids to have full rain gear here, rain pants, jacket, and boots, I do this for the spring when my backyard is a wet muddy mess, so there clothes stay nice, but they can still fall splash whatever, and because once its warm out, we go out in the rain also, as long as theres no lightning.
