Our roads are covered in calcium chloride... works great but wreaks havoc on vehicles.

They use alot of sand too but mostly for traction not really for melting anything though.

The salt they use here doesn't work on liquid so when the beginning of this mess started with freezing rain, we were done for. ??

They salt the crap out of our roads around here. It's brutal on cars and the roads.
